Our lab, and other ECU Biology labs, were well represented at the CERF meeting this month, and Becca and Chris even won prizes (Chris for best haiku... see below). Chris spoke about his ongoing work on parasites, salinity gradients, and gobies. Becca discussed resolving the mystery of parasites infecting native and non-native crab hosts. Tim spoke about his master's thesis work at University of Washington on restoration's impact on biota in the Pacific northwest. And I spoke about resolving the invasion history of one of our most common intertidal crabs, Hemigrapsus sanguineus. It was a nice week in Providence, RI (even had to break out the winter coats!) and a great chance to catch up with people and meet new people. Looking forward to the next one! Chris' winning parasite-themed haiku:
"Trophic transfer?", said the parasite to its host: "Oh, but I encyst!" #CERF2017Haiku 7/29/2018 11:03:46 pm
I have always wanted to be the part of this crew because I was always having passion to know more about the sea life. It is always getting my attention and still I have been trying to get over them. Comments are closed.
